What should you consider when buying a welding machine?
A selection guide based on material, power supply and operating conditions.

Start by defining the work you will do. Stick, MIG/MAG and TIG welding have different requirements. Consumables are also part of the selection process.
Power supply and duty cycle matter. A manufacturer's duty-cycle rating applies under specific test conditions; it is not a daily production-capacity figure.
Compare service support, spare-part availability, torch compatibility and warranty coverage. For a used machine, assess previous service records and safe operating condition.
